Vehicle interior components that cannot be removed from the clear zones of

Error! Reference source not found., or that are near the wheelchair occupant

space at a level that may be contacted by a wheelchair occupant’s head

during a side impact collision or a vehicle rollover, should be padded with

material that complies to FMVSS 201.

Only spill proof batteries (e.g. gel-cell) should be installed on wheelchairs that

are transported in motor vehicles.

Back supports with adjustable recline angles should not be reclined to more

than 30° to the vertical during vehicle travel unless necessary for the postural

and medical needs of the occupant
